THANK YOU for voting

With all of your help (and I really couldn't have done it without you all!) I managed to get 9th place!!! in the 2nd annual People's Health Blogger Awards. Your votes also meant that I've been named the top Eating Disorders blogger for the second year in a row! My prizes include the nifty badges below:

Wellsphere

Thanks to all 94 of you who voted and commented. I literally copied and pasted all of your touching, wonderful comments into a Word document that I saved to my "Self-Esteem" file, a compilation of emails, words, quotes, and other ephemera that help lift my spirits when I want to hibernate.

This blog is, without a doubt, the thing I am the most proud of in my life. It started out almost three years ago now, just me typing away at a computer as I transitioned from the hospital to a day treatment program and was looking for a place to sort out my thoughts and vent my spleen. I never expected ED Bites to take off, I never expected to have readers, I never expected my blog to last. But it did. And all of you took time out of your busy lives to vote for me, and I am just so incredibly humbled.

And if they had a contest for the best blog readers, well, I know who I would vote for!

Congratulations Carrie! Your blog was one of the first I stumbled upon in the blogosphere and I've been a closet fan ever since taking much interest in all the honesty and perspective and commentary you have on various issues relevant to eating disorders.
Congrats again, you deserve it!

Well done Carrie! You actually deserve higher than 9th - although I don't know how many entrants there were. As a nerd I love science debate/discussion, and I love you blog :)

Congrats Carrie...I literally check your blog every day!! Your struggles with anorexia and exercise are very close to mine, and some days, I just need to get to a computer to read your blog so I once again have HOPE.

I cant say thank you enough. You truely make a difference!

I would just like to echo the sentiments of others, as even though I don't comment that often, I do read on a regular basis. Our similar struggles with exercise purging and food restriction are eerily similar, and you continue to give me hope that changes can be made (and that I'm not that nuts...)

Congrats to you, as you deserve to accolades and so much more!

Carrie, hearing this great news was a great holiday present. Well-deserved for a well-written real blog that gives me hope when I think I don't have any.

PS: I'm happy to hear that someone else does the "self esteem" file too; it really does help if you force yourself to look at it!

About Me

My photo
I'm a science writer, a jewelry design artist, a bookworm, a complete geek, and mom to a wonderful kitty. I am also recovering from a decade-plus battle with anorexia nervosa. I believe that complete recovery is possible, and that the first step along that path is full nutrition.

Drop me a line!
