And so time passes...

So it's been a while since I've blogged. Like, a really long while.

Here's the thing: I've been really busy with life. I have a new relationship, I've been keeping busy with my writing and book editing, and the ED stuff has been actually pretty minimal. It's still there, of course, but it's not front and center in my life. I've also gotten into a groove with recovery. It's less of a full-time job and more of a habit. Which means that it can still be annoying and time-consuming, but it takes less conscious effort.

It's not so much that I haven't had stuff to write about, it's just that this stuff hasn't been ED-related. Despite the fact that I have a (very) public blog, I'm actually quite a private person. I don't mind sharing recovery stuff because I don't feel like I'm violating my own privacy by doing so, and also because I think that the sharing provides something positive. With my life now, there's less benefit in sharing, and more of a sense that I'm airing dirty laundry that really doesn't need to be aired. I don't like involving other people in my blog, not because I'm sort of demented megalomaniac, but because no one in my life asked to be on my blog. I don't want to put anyone in any awkward situations because of something I said that later comes back and bites them in the ass.

Like me, ED Bites is continually evolving. The blog isn't going anywhere, but I will probably post a little less frequently and discuss topics from different perspectives.

I appreciate your patience during this time.

Your life sounds very healthy right now and I am delighted for you! I always enjoy your insights and the information you share and will continue to do so when you have time. Thanks for what you do for others ... you do make a difference!

It feels good to hear that your blog has served its greatest purpose- that is, to give you the supportive outlet you needed to get on with recovery. I'm proud of you for taking some space, if that's what you need- and even more proud of you for being honest about it- b/c that takes guts.

I'd love it if you brought up topics outside of the ed-specific field on here- your thoughts elsewhere have always proven to be interesting food for thought. :)

I'm really glad you're enjoying life, Carrie!

Also, I very much respect that you don't name others or talk about relationships on your blog. I have read blogs wherein people pour their heart out to the world, naming all the people who have upset them and what these people have allegedly done to the blog writer and it's entirely inappropriate.

And, of course, there is MUCH more to life than EDs!

I am very happy for you, Carrie. Living your life to the full is the best evidence possible that you are free. You have worked so hard to regain your freedom. Enjoy! Soar!

Everything everyone above me has said? Yes to all of that. Keep calm and yarn on, my friend. ;)

Awwwwww, having a teary moment here, Carrie. Just great news all round.

Weirdly, I am very happy that you are not blogging because it is good stuff going on in your life that is taking its place. On the other hand, I am delighted to keep up with your rocking articles via Facebook and am off to read about inbreeding.

Hugs.

or... you're just avoiding the humiliating fact that your "1 in 20" campaign idea sucked.

^^that was rude

...anyways, I would like to say a gigantic thank you, because if it weren't for you taking the time to answer my email, which was a long shot for me b/c you don't know me and have your own life to deal with, I don't think I would have ever gone to IP. But I did, and it changed my life. I am forever grateful

At least I responded to criticism about the 1 in 20 Project openly and honestly instead of leaving snarky, anonymous comments.

And actually, although this might surprise you, the feedback I received was overwhelmingly positive, and I got encouragement from researchers, therapists, and sufferers around the world. I don't need approbation from everyone (believe me, I HEAR YOU that you think the project SUCKS), but I do want to be on solid statistical and informational ground before I move forward.

You have no idea what I'm doing in my life and what's really going on, so don't presume anything.

Wow, Anonymous, so rude and perhaps envious!?!
Good on you Carrie..it is always a positive when we devote more time to living life "out loud" as I like to call it...doing all the things we couldn't do when we were too entrapped or entrenched in our eds. Go for it, so happy for you! Jennifer xxoo

you are living beyond now. I am a firm believer in letting everything go when it is time…. the thinking, the dwelling, the reading and even the writing…. there is so much more life to write about! Come back and tell us all about how much ED BITES because life is… unbelievable. All the best!

Carrie,
I have just read your 'roadblock to recovery'series. So interesting and helpful insights.
I hope that you will not feel the need to post for a long time - in fact, in spite of this wonderful site and blog - I hope that you will eventually feel that you are in a place to report 'recovered and no longer inspired to post'.
I am happy to know you have an interesting and worthwhile life and that ed is moving down the scale in terms of its demands on you.

About Me

My photo
I'm a science writer, a jewelry design artist, a bookworm, a complete geek, and mom to a wonderful kitty. I am also recovering from a decade-plus battle with anorexia nervosa. I believe that complete recovery is possible, and that the first step along that path is full nutrition.
