The quote from the book is so true I was stunned. That is exactly what has happened in my life since I developed anorexia. I never heard it put so eloquently. I think I need to get this book.

great post! So true...

how was that book?? I haven't heard of it before, I might have to read it!

That sounds much more beautifully written than the typical eating disorder book. I'm slogging through Brave Girl Eating right now, and her basic, unpoetic style is killing me

The book has nothing to do with eating disorders- it's a novel by a French philosopher.

I haven't read the whole thing, to be honest. I just saw the quote and had to share. It's on my to read list.

Lol - I just read Alice's comment above... I haven't read 'Brave Girl Eating' but I probably will do, because I cannot get my head round 'poetic style' whatsoever. I love basic!

Someone recommended Hornbacher's 'Wasted' to me about 3 years ago and I couldn't see why it is so popular. It was hugely depressing.

I tend not to read ED books now that I am recovered, but I did read yours, Carrie, and I like it very much!

I highly recommend the book. Great thought-provoking family dynamics.

This is on my "To read" list, so I'm curious as to how you liked it (I'm too cheap to just buy it without an excuse.)

If you're looking for another "wow, that hit home" book, I recommend "But Inside I'm Still Screaming." Very good.

I'm a science writer, a jewelry design artist, a bookworm, a complete geek, and mom to a wonderful kitty. I am also recovering from a decade-plus battle with anorexia nervosa. I believe that complete recovery is possible, and that the first step along that path is full nutrition.
