BUT...I'm taking a deep breath and posting this because I also think it's important for everyone to see what recovery looks like. In this self-portrait, I'm at the top of the Temple of the Sun in Altun Ha, Belize on my recent trip. My big ol' noggin is blocking out the Temple of the Moon.

H-a-p-p-i-n-e-s-s: is as it looks like! Fantastic smile!
ReplyDeleteYou. Are. A. Dor. Able.
ReplyDeleteAnd I miss you.
WOW! You look great!!!!
ReplyDeleteMuch rather see you than the Temple of Doom or whatever it's called.
ReplyDeleteYou are beautiful! Thanks for your bravery... recovery is SO worth it. :)
ReplyDeleteWe all know it's a struggle, but, for once it's refreshing to see recovery looking good! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Carrie.
I agree with Mel - it IS refreshing to see the other side of ED - the smiling, enjoying-life, person!
ReplyDeleteI love your smile! Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteYou look fab :) Really fab :)
ReplyDeleteLove the sunglasses too!
Oh, and you have awesome teeth! Having lost two teeth over recent years I have become a bit obsessed with teeth and cannot help noticing others' teeth...
Recovery looks amazing. Thank you for sharing your gorgeous self!

Thank you for being courageous and vulnerable and posting this. And let's all remember that what recovery "looks like" is so much more than the physical shape we take when we are nourished. It looks like happiness, joy, adventure, and soaking up every last bit of glorious life!
ReplyDeleteYou look *happy* - yay!
ReplyDeleteAnd I know how hard it is to look at pictures of yourself and see what those around you see- I wish I had a reverse mirror so I could really visualize my appearance to others vs my appearance to myself.
It's not as bad as you think- in fact, it's not bad *at all*

Great pic!! That takes so much courage! You look AWESOME :D
ReplyDeleteLove the smiling photo of Carrie! It is good and positive to see how far you have come.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous. I went to Belize last year in the throes of my eating disorder so I definitely didn't get to enjoy the experience. But you look like you're having so much fun!! Thanks for the reminder of why recovery is worth it (:
ReplyDeleteGreat picture! I love the expression on your face, the sun, and the background. Keep it up!! :)
ReplyDeleteyou are awesome!!!
ReplyDeleteI just started blogging about my recovery, to get support, give support and write my thought on paper. Have a look and tell me what you think.

Love your happy recovery face. Of course, I always have loved your face and your soul that's shown through. But this one you've shared with the world is especially beautiful. so happy you had a nice trip to Belize
ReplyDeleteYou're beautiful and more importantly, you look HAPPY!
ReplyDeleteYou're beautiful, and such an inspiration!
ReplyDeleteyou look happy!!!
ReplyDeleteYou're a beautiful woman and an utterly amazing person. Thank you for sharing. <3
ReplyDeleteFor one thing, you are beautiful and vibrant and that inspires me about my future in recovery--knowing that it looks GOOD. But beyond that, this photo represents a whole lot of wonderful things you would not have if it weren't for all the work you've put into getting better. The travel, the smile, the lack of a huge invisible monster trailing you everywhere... that is stuff I want more than anything.
ReplyDeleteSo thank you for posting this, and know that it does have a very positive effect on me and others.
Carrie I am really proud of you. I know this was not easy for you and I hope you will keep it posted. I also know how many other things you have accomplished and battled. I am not taking away from the current struggles but I don't want you to forget how far you have come. In time I know the current struggles will be less too.
